How to Spend a Day in Carlsbad

With so many amazing choices and options, it is hard to decide how to spend a day in Carlsbad.  Whether you have one free day on the agenda or only in town for a quick stay at Carlsbad beach resorts. We thought we could help you plan an action-packed day.

Start Your Day in Carlsbad

The best part about staying at Carlsbad beach resorts is that you can walk to nearby attractions very easily.

Start your morning off with breakfast at Daily News Café.  A local favorite that has a patio seating area to enjoy the great weather.  It is literally steps away from the beach.  If you have your furry family members with you, don’t worry it is a dog-friendly restaurant.

Stroll Down the Boulevard

Since you are already in Carlsbad Village, it is the perfect time to hit some of the boutique shops, art galleries, bookstores, and take in the downtown scenery.

Lunch at Park 101

Park 101 is community-style dining in a multi-level plaza complex.  It is kid-friendly and dog-friendly so the entire family can enjoy.  Located steps away from the beach.  Downstairs is known as the Garden Pub there are games and a play area for kids.  The Tamarack Deck on the second floor is an adults-only bar and a sitting area.  With cozy seating and firepits.

Both levels have food and drinks.  If you like BBQ, there are tons of food choices.  They also have an espresso bar, a juice bar, and made to order ice cream sandwiches.  So, if you are not hungry for lunch, grab a treat and hang until your next stop.

An Afternoon of Choices

The afternoon leaves a ton of choices that are all dependent on what kind of fun you are looking for.

There are several spas in Carlsbad if you want to get a massage or facial and relax.

Want to go downtown or see other parts of San Diego?  The train station is three blocks from Ocean Palms and makes multiple stops.  Go to Little Italy, Gaslamp or Old Town.

If you are a golfer, there are tons of spectacular golf courses in the area.  Depending on what type of course you prefer to golf at there are 4 less than 10 miles away, The Crossings at Carlsbad, Rancho Carlsbad, Aviara, or La Costa.

San Diego is the largest region for breweries.  Whether you want to try out your favorites or go on a tour, there are tons of options.

If you are looking for outdoor fun, there are some beautiful nature hikes in Carlsbad.  With a variety of skill levels.

Tamarack Beach and South Ponto are the two closest beach locations to Carlsbad beach resorts.  They are both great choices to relax, swim, surf, paddleboard and sunbathe.

Stroll on the Beach Walk

Walk along the beach and take in the amazing sunset at Tamarack Walk.  You will probably find others doing the same locals and visitors hit the walkway.  There will be surfers catching the final waves of the day.  It’s the perfect way to walk to dinner and enjoy the stunning views.
